pizza dosa recipe | dosa pizza recipe | vegetable pizza dosa with step by step photo and video recipe. dosa recipes are very common across india and are made especially for morning breakfast. there are different types of dosa which are made with different types of dosa batter for a myriad purpose. one such new fusion recipe is pizza dosa recipe made with leftover masala dosa batter with vegetable and cheese toppings.
i have posted a quite a few fusion recipes with dosa batter, and pizza dosa recipe is not very different from those. perhaps it could be an intriguing and a unique fusion recipe for beginners. well to be honest, there isn’t anything special with this recipe and the dosa batter is made without any changes. as matter of fact, this recipe is made with left-over dosa batter and aimed especially towards kids. moreover, the topping is completely open-ended and can be experimented with choice of vegetables. in this recipe i have limited myself with basic toppings but you can extend with mushrooms, corn, spinach and tomato slices.
furthermore, i would like to add some tips and suggestions for a crisp and perfect pizza dosa recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend using masala dosa batter and do not recommend the soft or spongy dosa batter. in addition, do not roll the dosa thin and at the same time thick like set dosa or mini dosa. it has to be in between and should have some thickness to hold the toppings and also the crispiness. lastly, these dosa’s has to be served immediately once it is made. it turns out to be non crispy and also soggy once it loses its warmness. also, it does not require any additional condiments but tastes great with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.

Ingredients
for dosa batter:
- 3 cup dosa rice / sona masuri rice
- ½ tsp methi / fenugreek seeds
- 1 cup urad dal
- 2 cup puffed rice / churumuri / murmura, washed & squeeze
- 1½ tsp salt
for pizza topping (1 dosa):
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp pizza sauce
- 1 tbsp onion, chopped
- 1 tsp jalapeno, chopped
- 1 tbsp capsicum, chopped
- 1 tbsp olives, sliced
- ¼ tsp mixed herbs
- ¼ tsp chilli flakes
- 3 tbsp cheese, grated
Instructions
spread a ladleful of dosa batter slightly thickon hot tawa.
top with1 tsp butter and 1 tsppizza sauce.
spread gently, making sure the sauce and butter are uniformly spread.
now top with1 tbsp onion,1 tspjalapeno, 1 tbsp capsicum and 1 tbsp olives.
further,sprinkle ¼ tsp mixed herbs and ¼ tsp chilli flakes.
also, top with3 tbsp cheese.
keeping the flame on low, allow cheese to melt.
once the cheese starts to melt, scrape the dosa.
finally, enjoy pizza dosa with coconut chutney or as it is.

how to make dosa pizza with step by step photo:
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl soak 3 cup dosa rice and ½ tsp methi for 5 hours. alternatively, use idli rice / sona masuri rice.
- in another bowl soak1 cup urad dal for 3 hours.
- drain off the water from urad dal and blend to smooth paste adding water as required.
- transfer the smooth and fluffy batter of urad dal into a large bowl.
- in the blender take soaked rice draining off the water.
- bend to a slightly coarse paste adding water as required.
- transfer the rice batter to the bowl of urad dal batter.
- now take2 cups washed & squeezed puffed rice in a blender and blend to smooth paste. alternatively, use leftover rice or soaked sabudana.
- mix well making sure everything is combined well.
- now cover and rest in warm place for 8-10 hours or till the batter ferments and doubles.
- after 8 hours, batter doubles indicating well fermented with air pockets present.
- add 1½ tsp salt to the batter and mix well.
- mix gently without disturbing the air pockets.
- spread a ladleful of dosa batter slightly thickon hot tawa.
- top with1 tsp butter and 1 tsppizza sauce.
- spread gently, making sure the sauce and butter are uniformly spread.
- now top with1 tbsp onion,1 tspjalapeno, 1 tbsp capsicum and 1 tbsp olives.
- further,sprinkle ¼ tsp mixed herbs and ¼ tsp chilli flakes.
- also, top with3 tbsp cheese.

- firstly, use homemade pizza sauce or any good quality pizza sauce for rich flavour.
