Crispy Baby Corn | Air Fryer Baby Corn Recipe (1)We all love home cooked food, and I love kitchen appliances that can make the home cooking process quicker. My blog needs no introduction over my love for kitchen gadgets/appliances. After Instant Pot, Rotimatic, Wondermill, and Artiste, here comes the next gadget – Magic Chef® 3.7 Quart Digital Air Fryer. Electric pressure cooker and air fryers are more popular these days.

Disclosure: I received this product for review from New Air, but the opinions and thoughts expressed here are my own.

Before getting into the recipe, let me share some basics about Air Fryer.

What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is a countertop convection oven that cooks the food by circulating the hot air around it. Sounds more like a convection oven, right? But it is way faster than the convection oven as hot air in an air fryer is circulated much quicker and it doesn’t require pre-heating. If some recipes call for pre-heating, the air fryer pre-heats fast when compared to the convection oven.

Till I tried the air-fryer on my own, I was under the assumption that air fryers are only for roasting food without any oil. I was wrong. You can not only fry with an air fryer and make guilt-free snacks but also bake with an air fryer, and the air fryer basket is big enough to bake a cake.

I can hear you asking, why do I need an air-fryer when I have a convection oven. Let me tell you about that and the Magic Chef® 3.7 Quart Digital Air Fryer.

Magic Chef® 3.7 Quart Digital Air Fryer.

Can you air fry with a touch of a button? Magic Chef 3.7 – compact countertop air fryer is all about that. The digital controls and intuitive preset make air frying super easy, and it is perfect for everyday cooking.

Pros:

The compact size. I can fit on your countertop and even inside tall shelves. I have it on my countertop, and it adds elegance for sure. The 3.7 quart is a perfect size for a family of four. You can make snacks, sides and even meals with the air fryer. Let’s forget about the family; it is perfect if you are cooking for just one. If you are staying as a paying guest or in a dorm, this air-fryer comes in handy. You can whip up delicious meals without a lot of pans and pots. (Note – A perfect gift for your grads)

Here in the US, the standard oven comes as a unit with stove-top as well. But that’s not the case in other countries. It occupies a lot of space, whereas the air fryer doesn’t.

Faster Cooking. As I mentioned before, not all recipes call for pre-heating, even if it does the air fryer heats up pretty quickly, and cooks the food faster as well. The powerful fan moves hot air quickly and evenly over the surface of the food, making it crispy and brown every single time.

Ease of use. You don’t need to google to find the right temperature to cook the fries. The Magic Chef comes with the presets for frying, roasting, and baking. There are separate presets for meat and seafood. Ain’t that great?

All you need to do is, place the food the basket (make sure it is not too dense, air needs to flow through) and select the preset or if you want to try something different, pick the time and temperature and press the on button. The air fryer takes care of everything after that.

The air fryer automatically turns off when you remove the basket, and that’s a great safety feature for sure. If I have to shake in between like for chips, I don’t need to turn it off, and when re-inserted the air fryer will switch itself on again automatically until the timer expires.Crispy Baby Corn | Air Fryer Baby Corn Recipe (2)

Cleaning. The baskets are dishwasher safe, and the non-stick surface makes it easy to clean as well.

Last but not least, the Magic Chef comes with the recipe book that will open up a whole new world of air fryer recipes. Also, their manual has cooking time, and temperature details for a wide range of food. I have a list of recipes to try now. Yes, I will be posting more air-fryer recipes, so stay tuned.

Cons.

Honestly, I couldn’t think about any even after making some five to six different dishes. I am not exaggerating. I tried Indian style potato curry, plantain chips, potato wedges, cauliflower roast, and this crispy baby corn. So far so good and if there is any, I will definitely update in the following posts.

But I do have one thing to say. I wish the inner basket lining were not non-stick. Even though it is made of high-quality non-stick material, I lined up the basket with aluminum foil. Makes it easy to clean and maintain also. But don’t make a thick layer with aluminium foil, as it can restrict airflow and make cooking less effective. The air fryer needs air to circulate completely around the food.

I hope I haven’t missed any points. If you have any questions, please do let me know in the comments and I will answer them asap. Now without any further delay, let me share the crispy baby corn recipe.

I kept the crispy baby corn recipe very simple. It is more like the Indo-Chinese baby corn or like the Manchurian baby corn. I did not include any soy sauce of vinegar, but you can add 1 tsp of both and make it.Crispy Baby Corn | Air Fryer Baby Corn Recipe (3)

  • I cooked the baby corns in two batches. I did not load them all at once. Keep 10 in the basket and insert it into the air fryer. Set the temperature to 350 deg F and set the timer for 10 minutes and turn the air fryer.

  • Serve it hot with mayo or any other dip.

Notes-

  • I used canned baby corn. If you are using frozen, make sure to bring it to room temperature.
  • The sauce is sufficient for 25 to 30 baby corns.
  • Adjust the sriracha according to your spice preference, or you can also add a tbsp of maple syrup.
